TOOTH EXTRACTIONS
Tooth extractions are one of the most common types of oral surgery procedures. Generally a simple procedure, tooth extraction can be completed right in our office. During this procedure, Dr. Palmer gently pulls your tooth, being careful not to disturb healthy bone or gum tissue. Wisdom tooth removal, also called third molar extraction, is often more complex and can take up to a few hours to complete.
APICOECTOMY
This minor surgical procedure is performed to save your tooth when a traditional root canal procedure is not completely successful. During an apicoectomy, Dr. Palmer gives you a local anesthetic to numb the area, then opens up the gum tissue over your infected tooth. In addition to removing the root tip and sealing it with a small filling, a small amount of inflamed or infected gum tissue may also be removed.
BONE GRAFTING
Bone grafting is a specialized oral surgery treatment that involves replacing bone levels in the jaw. Usually caused by missing teeth, bone loss will progress if left untreated. Timely treatment is required to stop ongoing loss of bone and to support dentures or dental implants. A bone grafting procedure involves taking bone from the patient or a donor source and placing it at the site of bone resorption. Once the sutures are in place, the area is allowed to heal for a few months to let the bone grafting material integrate with your jawbone.

WISDOM TOOTH CONSULTATION AND REMOVAL
Wisdom teeth are the third set of molars (back teeth) to develop. Typically, they erupt sometime during the mid-teen years to early 20s, but they may continue growing until you’re about 30 years old. Unfortunately, their position in the mouth can predispose teens, college students, and adults to issues like impacted teeth, cysts, discomfort, and overall crowding.
Even if they erupt completely, the location of wisdom teeth makes them more prone to cavities and gum disease. Proactively removing impacted or partially impacted wisdom teeth can reduce health complications in adjacent teeth and the overall smile.
